a bird and a bee apiary

Here at Sparrow Gardens we maintain a small apiary in order to support the honeybee population and aid in the pollination of our nursery plants. Over the past seven years we have learned so much about the amazing lives of honeybees and their hive communities, the many challenges they face - both environmental and from pests and disease, and how resilient they are. The emerging science on bee intelligence, communication, and even consciousness fosters an ever growing respect for this amazing creature! We feel privileged to be stewards of their hives, and grateful to be able to share their honey with our community.
